On May 29th, 30th and 31st the Thurmont area was treated to a sight seldom seen when Thurmont Hertiage Days organized a wagon train ride from Thurmont to Harney. The event began with a Friday night cook out at Joe Eyler’s pasture on Eyler Road. Saturday morning everyone was up bright and early for the first leg of the trip. After passing through the Roddy Road Covered Bridge the wagon train headed off to Toms Creek for the evening and then on to Harney on Sunday morning. Anyone interested in purchasing prints please call me at 301-606-9458 or email me at

Thurmont American Legion Post 168 sponsored the annual Memorial Day Service held in Memorial Park on May 30, 2015.  Many local organizations attend this solemn ceremony and place wreaths at the World War 1 Memorial. Thanks to all those that participated as well as those that joined us to honor our service men and women.

Thurmont Welcomed the World, May 18-19, 2012
Thurmont’s Economic Development Committee and Thurmont First Main Street extended a warm welcome to all G8 Summit visitors and we invite you to stop at our many shops, restaurants and attractions while you are in the area. Like many of our visitors you will find Thurmont and our surroundings to be a great little get away. Once you experience the fresh mountain air, quiet lifestyle, beautiful scenery, great parks and recreation facilities and warm welcoming residents it will be obvious why Thurmont serves as the site of the Presidential retreat at Camp David.
