	Thurmont EDC & Main Street Monthly Membership Meeting The May 2012 Thurmont Economic Development Committee & Main Street Meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 16th at the Mountaingate Family Restaurant. Please join us at 6:00 pm for our social hour and meal, then at 7:00 pm for the meeting. All residents and business owners are welcome to join us.

	Thurmont’s Farmers Market Celebrates it’s Eighth Year!

Flea & Farmers Market!
Thurmont Main Street will host the 8th annual
Main Street Flea & Farmers Market
at the Boundary Avenue entrance
to the Carnival Grounds
The Thurmont Main Street Flea and
Farmers Market is open Saturday mornings
from 9:00 a.m. until noon and runs from
June 9, 2012 through September 22, 2012. There will be NO Farmers Market on July 14th due to the Guardian Hose Company’s Carnival. Each season brings our regular vendors as well as new vendors selling a wide array of products that have included fresh dairy products, fruit, vegetables, muffins, cookies, fresh cut flowers,
eggs, cheese, and home made cinnamon buns!
Customers usually start lining up before the
official 9:00 start time to get the best choices!

	The 2012 Thurmont Business Expo

WOW, What a “Fabuous 50’s” night! Our thanks to all the vendors that participated, all our volunteers, and especially all the residents that visited the 2012 Thurmont Business Expo.

Chairwoman Diana Stull pulled together a great event. Assisting her with the project planning and set up were Main Street Manager Cindy McKane-Wagester, EDC Vice-Chairman John “Gnarly” Nickerson, EDC Board Member Carol Robertson, and Heather Dewees.

Thanks also to our many sponsors, their support helped make this one of our best Expo’s ever!

Congratulations to the Thurmont Regional Library for winning the Best Costume Award and to R. S. Kinnaird Memorials for winning Best Display.

	“Getaway to the Gateway” Thurmont’s new tourism brochure is now available.

The Thurmont Economic Development Committee and Thurmont First Main Street are pleased to announce the publication of our new tourism brochure “Getway to the Gateway” for 2009/2010. This is a 12 panel full color fold out featuring many local points of interest as well as a map on the inside showing Thurmont and the location of many local businesses. The brochure has been funded through a grant and by advertising sales and will be made available free of charge to visitors and residents. The brochures can be picked up at most local businesses and also at many locations around Frederick County. A full color pdf version can be downloaded at the following links:

It can be accessed by using the Thurmont Business Directory link on the left or by using the link provided on the menu bar. This is one of the of main features of ThurmontFirst.com. The Directory has address and phone information as well as email and web addresses if available. Be sure to try the Directory and tell the businesses you shop with that you used the online directory to locate them. The Directory is a recent project of the EDC and is being distributed free of charge to all residences in Thurmont. The online version of the Directory will contain the same information as the printed version and will be updated regularly, eventually providing a wider range of information about each business listed.
